Browser-based systems that carry real business processes, not just marketing pages.
A web application is different from a website. A website communicates; an application does work. It holds state, enforces rules, handles concurrent users, integrates with other systems, and has to stay correct when people use it in ways nobody anticipated.
SMC builds the second kind. Client portals, internal operations tools, reporting dashboards, booking and workflow systems, and public-facing platforms where the interface is only the visible part of a much larger system.
The front end is built with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React or jQuery depending on how much interactivity the application genuinely needs — we do not add a framework to a page that does not require one. Behind it sits a Spring Boot backend exposing REST APIs, with authentication, authorisation, and validation enforced server-side rather than trusted to the browser.
Deployment goes to AWS or Azure with environments separated, monitoring in place, and a release process that can be rolled back.
The concrete outputs of an engagement in this area.
Front end, API layer, and data layer defined as separate concerns with clear contracts between them.
Layouts that work from mobile through to large desktop displays, tested on real viewport sizes.
Login, session handling, and role-based access control so users only see and change what they should.
Documented endpoints designed for the application's actual access patterns, not generic CRUD over every table.
Payment gateways, ERP and PMS systems, and external APIs connected with proper error handling and retries.
Query tuning, caching, and asset optimisation so the application stays responsive as data volume grows.
Cloud deployment on AWS or Azure with logging, monitoring, and a controlled release process.
The parts of our stack that apply to this work.
The seven phases applied specifically to web application development engagements.
We map the business problem, the people affected by it, and the technical constraints before a line of code is written.
We define the system structure, data model, integrations, and hosting approach so the build scales past its first release.
Screens and flows are designed around how the work actually gets done, then reviewed with you before development starts.
Engineering runs in short, reviewable increments so progress stays visible and changes stay cheap.
Functional and integration testing, plus performance and security checks, run against every release candidate.
Releases go out through a controlled process, with environments, rollback, and monitoring in place.
After launch we maintain, monitor, and extend the application as the business changes.
Sectors where this work comes up most often.
Send over what you have — a brief, a spec, or just the problem — and we will come back with an approach.
